During the summer of 2018, I am working under Dr. Metcalf and Dr. Truman in the Mixed Emerging Technology Integration Lab. I am gathering data of loT wearables and software for the Winter Park Health Foundation Wikipedia, which is geared toward the elderly population. Furthermore, I will conduct research on the vulnerabilities of loT elderly wearables.

Amon Harris

Hi! My name is Amon Harris. I am originally from Greensboro, NC and I am a rising junior majoring in Computer Science at North Carolina Central University. This summer I am working with Mr. Orlando Arias, Dr. Yier Jin and Dr. Shaojie Zhang to conduct research in discovering vulnerabilities within surrounding networks and prepare experimental configurations to display (in a user-friendly format) where exactly the vulnerability exists within layer 2 of the OSI model. Through the experimentation, I will assist the mentoring PhD student in investigating network security, especially WiFi security for public networks.

Kaley Brindisi

My name is Kaley Brindisi and I am a rising junior at Siena College in Albany, New York. I am pursuing a double major in Mathematics and Computer Science. This summer, I am working on the Carebit mobile app project under the mentorship of Dr. Pamela Wisniewski. The purpose of Carebit is to provide a more affordable and less privacy invasive approach to caregiving. The app reports specific health information to a caregiver in order to help monitor their loved one. I will be working to complete both the Android and iOS versions of the application to test and evaluate them in a user study.

Jonathan Guilbe

Jonathan is a rising senior studying Computer Science at the University of Central Florida. He is working with Dr. Turgut and Dr. Boloni on a Smart Walker for rehabilitation patients and the elderly. The Smart Walker will not only collect useful data for the doctor, but will provide feedback to the patient to help encourage correct usage of the Walker. His current plan is to help extend the functionality of the Walker through the use of Computer Vision and haptic feedback.

Jason Ling

I’m a senior double majoring in computer science and statistics Penn State. This summer, I am working with both Dr. Damla Turgut and Dr. Lotzi Bölöni on research for a smart home. I will be simulating and collecting data from a smart home using sensors and a raspberry pi. After I have collected the data, I will be using deep learning algorithms to model them.

Domonique Cox

I am a junior at Prairie View A&M University in Texas, pursuing a B.Sc in Computer Science Engineering. This summer I will be working with Dr. Fei Liu and Kaiqiang Song on a research project that generates privacy and security threat summary for Internet of things. In particular, I will be using secondary news data, natural language processing, machine learning and other data analytics tools to process the collected data and automatically generate text summary for the privacy and security threats. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at dcox15@student.pvamu.edu .

Arati Banerjee

I am Arati Banerjee, a junior from the University of Central Florida in Orlando. I am currently majoring in Computer Science with minors in Secure Computing and Networks and Intelligent Robotic Systems. This summer I am working on a project to produce “Fine-Grained Configurable OS Vulnerabilities on Various Virtual Machines”. The goal of the project is to create a tool that can set a Windows 7 virtual machine to various levels of security based on a timeline, to simulate exploiting vulnerabilities before they were patched, and updates were released. This will hopefully work as a valuable educational tool for cybersecurity students to practice penetration testing and understand different sets of operating system vulnerability.

Kayshaunna Williams

I am a rising senior currently attending Jackson State University where I am pursing a bachelor’s degree in computer science. My research focuses on the vulnerabilities and security risks that are prevalent within IoT devices. While exploring IoT security this summer, I will be experimenting with different devices, via different techniques such as network probing and reverse engineering in hopes of educating consumers about the everyday risks involving many of their favorite smart devices.

Ray Ruitao Yan

My name is Ray Yan, and I am a rising junior from Purdue University, majoring in Computer Engineering. I am working with Dr. Fei Liu and Logan Lebanoff on the “Generating Privacy and Security Threat Summary for Internet of Things” project. The specific field I am working with my graduate assistant on is on vagueness analysis of privacy policies, which is done by training a machine learning algorithm on human data. This summer I assisted by learning Python and working on data analytics code for the human data.

Joseph Jacob Prause

Joseph is a Senior studying Computer Science at University of Central Florida. He is working with Dr. Wisniewski to develop an Android Application utilizing FitBit API. This application will be used to assist caretakers in monitoring patients by using of the shelf FitBit devices while giving the patient the ability to control which health information will be sent to their caretaker. This application can than be used to research if allowing for privacy customization does not interfere with patient monitoring, while maintaining privacy requests from the patient.
