Jacob Buckelew

My name is Jacob Buckelew and I am a rising senior at Rollins College, located in Winter Park, Florida. I am currently pursuing a B.A. degree with majors in Computer Science and Mathematics. Over the course of this REU program, I will be working under the guidance of Dr. Andrew Dickerson and Dr. Damla Turgut to build machine learning algorithms that can accurately predict fluid/structure interactions. The first phase of our project will involve dropping water droplets on 3-D printed surfaces as we tune various parameters to determine how impact force may be affected when a drop lands on the surface. With our data, we will train and test many machine learning models to gain a better understanding of the relationships between the input parameters and impact force. Therefore, this research will help us to understand how IoT sensors may be applied to fluid/structure interactions.
